Local hero spotlight
Davina & Rupert St. Aubyn, Southern & Rebel WinesSouthern Wines are a long-standing part of The George’s story and something of a local institution in their own right. As a proudly independent merchant, Southern Wines has built its reputation on deep knowledge, strong producer relationships and a genuine passion for good wine. We’ve been a very faithful client of theirs for years, and beyond the business, there’s real friendship at the heart of it.
What really sets these two apart is how embedded they are in the local fabric. They’re not just suppliers, they’re regulars, supporters, and genuinely devoted members of the wider village community. Whether it’s showing up to events, championing local businesses, or simply being part of the lives of others, they bring the same warmth and generosity to people as they do to their work.
More recently, they’ve turned their attention to something new with Rebel Wine, a bold and innovative venture that’s pushing into new territory. Rebel is exploring CBD-infused wine in a way that feels playful and contemporary, bringing together the ritual of wine with a more modern, mindful approach to drinking. It’s a space that’s still emerging in the UK, and they’re very much at the forefront of it.
We’re proud to work alongside Southern Wines and to support Rebel as it grows. Both reflect what we care about at The George - independence, character, and a willingness to do things a little differently.
